We had a gorgeous day for photos and after the formal family portraits in the church, the bridal party piled into the party van – complete with ‘Just Married’ written on the windows and traditional cans trailing form the bumper – and headed to the UW Arboretum for the remaining bridal party photos. We were able to utilize the great variety of locations at the Arboretum for many beautiful photos – and we even had a groomsmen start climbing one of the trees!
When we arrived at the reception it was clear to see how much thought Brittani & Trevor had put into their wedding. All the details were absolutely flawless – from the beautiful cake, the popcorn and candy station, the cute signage, and the guest favors – it was all picture-perfect!
It was so wonderful to be able to share in this day with Brittani and Trevor. It was clear to see that they have a very strong support system of family and friends who love them both dearly. Congratulations to the amazing couple, I wish you both endless happiness as you embark on your new life together!
Here's some more sneak peeks from the big wedding day - I hope you all enjoy!
The ceremony took place downtown Madison at the Gates of Heaven Synagogue, a beautiful venue that lets the natural sunlight pour in. For photos we started at Gates of Heaven, then took off for the Capitol, the Memorial Union, Red Gym, and finished up at a baseball diamond in Stoughton before finally heading to the reception. We had an absolutely perfect day -- an April day with no showers, warm sunshine, and temps climbing into the mid-60's! (Which if you're from Wisconsin, you know how much awful weather we had put up with all winter to get here!!)
I had an absolute blast taking pictures with the bridal party. The bridesmaids were a spunky and fun group of girls and I loved that each of them and the bride had matching Chucks to wear for the big day! The groomsmen were just as fun and energetic to work with - and definitely enjoyed goofing off for the camera.
One of the reasons I love weddings is that they are always so much fun - but it is especially during the dinner speeches that I'm reminded each time about what weddings are all about. Kelsey and Matt's friends and family spoke to how perfect a match Kelsey & Matt are for one another. They recounted stories of how kind, loving, and special each of them were growing up, and continue to be today. They reminded the guests of how supportive they are and how proud they are of the couple. They took time to remember the loved and missed family members who were no longer with us. All of this is what weddings are about, and what Kelsey & Matt's wedding perfectly embodied - coming together to celebrate the love and devotion of two people, and how that love extends to every corner of their lives.
Thank you Matt, Kelsey, and your families for including me in your special day. It was wonderful to get to know each of you more and spend the day capturing photos that I hope you will love as much as I do!
With that, here's a sneak peek from the Liggett Wedding - Enjoy! :)

One of my personal favorite things about weddings though, is the little details. You know, the tiny ribbons on all the guest favors that the bride and her bridesmaids slaved away tying in perfect bows for hours in the weeks leading up to the ceremony; the perfect pair of shoes that the bride searched for months to find; the hand-me-down family heirloom jewelry the bride wears as she walks down the aisle; the matching necklaces all the bridesmaids are wearing; the unique cufflinks the groomsmen are sporting; the beautifully crafted hand-made signs, card boxes, and centerpieces that the bride has been working on for months..... THOSE are the things that I just adore about weddings. Why? Because they often get overlooked in photographs. In the hustle and bustle of the big wedding day, the small details often get overlooked and missed. It's so important to me to capture as many of these little details as I can, to truly capture all the hard work and planning that went into each wedding.
With that being said, here are a few of my favorite 'little things' from a selection of weddings I've photographed. Enjoy :)
